Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo stuffed the stat-sheet on Sunday in his team’s 117-109 victor over the Houston Rockets after struggling in his first game back from injury two days earlier.
“Playoff Rondo, man,” Markieef Morris said, via ESPN.
“He’s a floor general. He’s going to put us in our right spots. He’s going to talk to us. He’s been there before. He’s done it at all different levels and we’re happy to have him back to lead the team.”
Rondo finished Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 10 points, 9 assists, 5 steals and 3 rebounds and a whopping +28 team rating.
“I think he was just extremely aggressive, not only offensively, but defensively — taking the challenge on James Harden, taking the challenge on whoever he was guarding. Just trying to lead,” LeBron James said.
“I mean, that’s what ‘Do is. He’s a leader. And for us to have him back in the postseason, it’s a key for our team.”
Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was similarly glowing of the 34 year-old vet.
“He has such an impact… His impact on our team is measured in swag and just the confidence that he brings to our group,” Vogel said.
If Rondo is able to continue to play at a high-level, the Rockets are going to have a very difficult time winning three out of the series’ remaining five games.
