‘The Last Dance’ Shatters TV Ratings Records for ESPN

With the NBA halted, fans were hungry for any sort of action and ‘The Last Dance’ provided it.

The reward for the documentary-makers has been the stunning success of the brilliantly executed series.

ESPN announced on Thursday the documentary averaged more than 5.6 million viewers per episode , and is pulling in 12.8 million viewers an episode from on-demand viewing.

It was by far the most-watched television show across all networks since sports were stopped on March 11, as the documentary reminded everyone that sometimes sporting docs can be even more entertaining than actual games.

And there we weren’t many more dramatic teams than the 90’s Bulls, although the Kobe and Shaw Lakers might’ve given them a run for their money.

Now that the series, the eyes of the basketball world have turned back to if (and when) the NBA season will resume.
