No. 1 Prospect Anthony Edwards Declares For NBA Draft

Georgia freshman Anthony Edwards, the number one prospect in the nation, has declared for the NBA Draft.

Edwards announced his intentions via Twitter.

Earlier today, Edwards said he deserved to be the top pick in the upcoming NBA draft.

The latest mock draft by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony has Edwards as the number one pick.

Meanwhile, Edwards seems to agree.

“I think I should go number one, no doubt,” he told 24/7 Sports.

“That’s the only place I think I should go.”

Along with his draft announcement, it was also revealed that Edwards had signed with Octagon Basketball, the agency that represents Giannis Antetokounmpo and Steph Curry.

A 6-foot-5 athlete with a versatile skill set, Edwards averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.8 rebounds in SEC play for Georgia this season.

The Atlanta native has displayed excellent playmaking and defensive abilities, especially for an 18-year-old.

Despite blossoming into a college basketball superstar, that didn’t always appear to be Edwards’ destiny.

“I thought I was going to be a football star,” he said.

“But I gave it my all (as a basketball player) and started working hard.

“I locked in and I guess we’re here now.”
