Kawhi Leonard Will Give Raptors ‘Every Last Opportunity’ To Make Things Work – Report

Despite ESPN’s reports that Kawhi Leonard wants to play in his native Los Angeles, we might just have our greatest sign yet that he’s at least willing to entertain the idea of remaining north of the border.

San Antonio Express News’ Jabari Young appeared on TSN Radio on Wednesday saying he’d been given the impression Leonard was open to making things work in Toronto before becoming a free agent next summer.

“Based off of me talking to people within his circle, they’re going to go into this thing with an open mind and give this thing every last opportunity to work,” Young said.

“And at the end of the day, if that’s the case, then it would be great if he stays. Obviously, I think part of his mind, yes, let’s keep real: I think he still feels like L.A. might be the destination.

“At the same time, he plans to go into this thing with an open mind, giving it every single shot in the world to make it work.”

The news came just one day after ESPN reported Toronto had hired Leonard’s close friend and former college teammate Jeremy Castleberry to join the team’s coaching staff.

And while it appears that both the Lakers and the Clippers are still the co-favourites to secure Leonard’s services, Toronto appear to be inching their way closer to winning him over.

There’s still a lot of time between now and the summer of 2019.

And the Raptors know it.
